WARD, William E. Three Rivers Mr. Ward passed away early Friday morning, June 15, 2007 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. He was born April 23, 1934 in Kalamazoo, the son of the late LJ and Mildred Cuthbert Ward. On December 13, 1953, he was united in marriage to Darlene Arney. Bill was employed by the Kalamazoo Gazette for 46 years until his retirement in April 1996. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, DeMolay and the Sliver Slingers. Bill was an avid hunter, fisherman, bowler and golfer. He also played softball on the Gazette?s league, enjoyed woodworking, military history and crossword puzzles. Surviving are his wife, Darlene Ward; his three children, Deborah Larry Mitchell of Three Rivers, Colleen Fred Kelley of Schoolcraft and W. Kyle Denise Ward of Carmel, IN; two grandchildren, Brandy and Jory Ward; three step-grandchildren, Heather Ted Bowers, Angela Luca Capitano and Cody Kelley; four step-great-grandchildren; one sister, E. Jane Stephen Lynch of Green Valley, AZ; one niece; two nephews; and his beloved canine companion, Jake. Preceding him in death are his parents; step-mother, Irene Joe Torok; maternal grandparents, William and Clara Cuthbert; and paternal grandparents, E.L. and Nellie Ward. Funeral services for Mr. Ward will be at 11:00 AM on Monday tomorrow at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, with Pastor James Sumners and Pastor James Roberts officiating. Private interment will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 PM on Sunday today at the funeral home.
