ROBINSON, William E.
Kalamazoo Bill passed away Friday afternoon, February 22, 2008. He was born January 7, 1918 in Kooi, WY, one of four children to Clyde and Harriet Green Robinson. Bill worked as a police officer for many years, starting his career as one of the first motorcycle patrol officers for the City of South Haven. He then moved to Kalamazoo and was employed by Kalamazoo City Police Department, before working for the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department. Bill then went on to be the safety director for Michigan Mutual Insurance Co. Lastly, he was employed by Canonie Construction for many years as their Safety & Personnel Director. Bill was also on the decision making boards for OSHA and many government safety committees. He retired in 1983. On June 18, 1938, Bill was united in marriage to Eulene Spillers in Bangor, MI, who preceded him in death on December 13, 2006. Also preceding him in death are his parents; and one brother, Richard Robinson. Surviving are 3 children, John Joan Robinson of Davison, MI, Julie Ted Esman of Portage, and Jacqueline Ron VandeStreek of Richland; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Margaret Penix of Kalamazoo, and Dorothy Walter Adams of Phoenix, AZ. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family on Monday tomorrow from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
