PERRIN, Mr. William E.
Portage, MI William E. Perrin peacefully passed away on May 13, 2011 at Rose Arbor Hospice of Kalamazoo. Mr. Perrin was born in Kalamazoo on January 6, 1927 the only child of Frank and Isabelle Scott Perrin. He was a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo and Portage areas. In 1944, Bill graduated from State High where he lettered in football, basketball, tennis and track. He went on to attended Western Michigan University and Northwestern University while in the Navy. At Western he lettered in football and basketball. On June 14, 1947, he was united in marriage to Barbara J. Stevens who preceded him in death on December 30, 1990. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter-in-law, Jane Perrin in 2010. He is survived by four children Jim Barb Perrin, Judy Doug Vliek, Peggy Chuck Vliek, and Sally Jeff Tomlinson, 9 grandchildren Jenny Rich Yothers Perrin, Anne Danny Paolucci, Amy Matt Tuley, Chad Lynn Vliek, Jessica Vliek, Bill Emily Vliek, Mary Brian Smith, Ben Amy Tomlinson, and Sam Natalie Tomlinson, 11 great grandchildren, and his loving friend Lois Powell. Bill was a loving, generous and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Bill was a member of the Portage United Church of Christ. He was employed by the Upjohn Company and retired after many years of service in 1985. Bill was an avid athlete and enjoyed watching any sporting event throughout his lifetime. He and Barb also enjoyed music and theater, but most of all loved spending time with their family and friends. Friends may meet the family 6-8pm Monday at the Langeland Family Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Center St. A memorial service will be held 2 o?clock Tuesday at the Portage United Church of Christ, 2731 West Milham. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery at a later date.
