Portage Passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2007. Bill was born May 19, 1919 in Kalamazoo, the son of Charles R. and Harriett Olivett Miller and was a lifelong resident of Portage. For 28 years, he was a Fire Fighter for the City of Portage, retiring with the rank of Captain on July 7, 1984. Bill was a member of Lake Center Bible Church for over 60 years. On December 31, 1940, he married the former Susan V. Goodwin, who preceded him in death on March 29, 2004. He was also preceded by a brother, Robert C. Miller, a sister, Leona Bill Fisk, two sisters-in-law, Josephine Miller and Frances Goodwin, and a brother-in-law, Robert Piper. His survivors include his children, Sandra Lee Miller-Duncan and her husband Elbert of Schererville, IN, and Charles William Cherie Miller of Lake Havasu City, AZ; 3 grandchildren, Kelly Jean Justin Miller-Tourtillott of Las Vegas, NV, Jaime Miller of Lake Havasu City, AZ, and Allisun Suzanne Duncan of Forest Park, IL; a great-grandson, Dillon Tourtillott; a brother, Carl O. Miller of Portage; two brothers-in-law, Frank Goodwin of Allegan and Herbert Beverly Goodwin of Vicksburg; two sisters-in-law, Betty John Mattheis of Portage and Georgia Piper of Portage; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Monday in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with Pastors Steve Zerbe and Kent Wray officiating. Interment will follow in South Portage Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
