William "Bill" Miles

Passed away Tuesday October 25, 2016 at the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Bill was born December 19, 1929 in Indianapolis, IN the son of the late Truman and Jessee (Bird) Miles. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy for 30 years in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and was an escaped POW in the Korean War. Bill also was the owner of Miles Construction for several years. In 1977, he was united in marriage to his loving wife Patricia, whom he had been together with for a total of 44 years. Also surviving are their children, William Lee Miles, Jr., Kathleen Miles, Michael Douglas, Kevin Douglas, Kelly Douglas; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Beverly and Lee; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Charles Miles and a sister Mary Jane Baker. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday November 2 in Ft. Custer National Cemetery (meet in assembly area at 10:50). A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, November 5 at the Agape Christian Church, 609 Cherokee in Kalamazoo. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the SPCA.
