Of Portage, Michigan Died January 10, 2009. William was born November 20, 1923 in Detroit, MI a son of William and Mae Black LaBurn. He served as a Merchant Marine during World War II and was employed for several years as an iron worker for the Reinforcing Iron Workers Union, Local # 426. William was preceded in death by his wife Hilda in 2003 and by 2 brothers James and Kenneth LaBurn and a sister Dorothy Boyd. Surviving are 2 daughters and 1 son, Diane Frank Stuckey of Gatlinburg, TN, Rhonda Rich Harlow of Plainwell and Bill Sue LaBurn of Portage; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a special niece Ginger Chuck Spaniolo of Kalamazoo; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 am at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with Pastor Chuck Connors officiating. Friends may meet the family on Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in William's memory may be made to Huntington's Disease, Mid-Michigan Chapter.
