HOMAN, William L. "Bill"
Portage, MI Died Friday morning February 13, 2009. Bill was born March 7, 1928 in Kalamazoo, the son of Howard and Wava Debeck Homan. During the Korean War he served with the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with Allied Paper Company for 39 years before retiring. Bill was also a member of the VFW, American Legion, Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives, Doris M. Homan in 1985 and Doris M. Homan in 2002; a son, Richard Homan; a sister, Marie Jira; a brother, Elmer Homan and granddaughter, Shannon Homan. Surviving are 3 children, Larry Connie Homan of Red Oak, TX, Lydia Bobby Andrews of Hewitt, TX and John Julie Homan of Kalamazoo; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Homan of Portage and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with Pastor Danny Janes officiating. Visitation will be at the Portage Chapel on Monday from 6-8 PM. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association.
