HARDING, William C. "Bill"
of Portage, MI Passed away October 24, 2009 at home. Bill was born in Melrose, Massachusetts on June 25, 1937 to Dana and Irene Bears Harding. Bill graduated from Boston University with a degree in Engineering Management and worked for General Electric in a variety of management positions for 37 years. He proudly served in the Army National Guard, from 1961 until honorably discharged in 1967. Bill was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Portage and sang in the choir for 10 years. After retiring from AIMS in Kalamazoo, Bill found great pleasure working as a car transporter for Greater Kalamazoo Auto Auction. He enjoyed golf, reading and spending summers at Singing Sands, in South Haven. Bill married the love of his life Paige Goodwin Harding on May 25, 1963. As life partners, they enjoyed life to the fullest with family friends and just being together. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Dana and Irene Harding. He is survived by two daughters, Cindi Brent Blanchard of Fishers, IN, and Pam Len Shuck of Indianapolis, Indiana; Six grandchildren Jennifer, Cameron and Trevor Blanchard, Kyle, Drew, and Evan Shuck; brother-in-law Jim Nancy Goodwin; sister-in-law Jill Rich Palmer; cousin Judy Cliff Moss, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating Bill's life will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday October 28, 2009 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 7028 Oakland Dr., Portage, Michigan. Friends will be received immediately after the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's name to the Portage YMCA, 2900 W.Centre St., Portage, MI 49024.
