FISK, William H. ?Bill?
Kalamazoo Bill, a man of faith, humor and compassion, peacefully went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday afternoon, January 2, 2008. He was born June 25, 1925 in Kalamazoo, the only child of the late Glen and Jennie Smith Fisk. Bill was a charter member and elder of Haven Church. He was a member of Kalamazoo Carpenter?s Union Local 525, and Kalamazoo Home Builders Association. Bill was an avid bowler and was a member of two national championship bowling teams, sponsored by Bill Fisk Builders, in 1961 and 1970, for the American Bowling Congress Championship. On May 4, 1945, he was married to Louise Houtman, who preceded him in death on November 26, 1995. On May 10, 1997, he was married to Joyce Welch Davis, who survives. Also surviving are his 3 children, Dan Kay Fisk of Ann Arbor, Donna Ray VanIddeking of Kalamazoo, Bret Denise Fisk of Indianapolis, IN; 7 grandchildren, Ryan VanIddeking, Becky Sam Marten, Abbey Isaac Streich, Amanda Peter Pennock, and Clair, Mark, and Will Fisk; 1 great-grandson, Drew Marten; 4 step-children, Connie Jim Barker, Bonnie Dave Sanders, Donna Jeff Upchurch, and Don Jackie David; 9 step-grandchildren, Christina Ken Reita, Adam Erin Barker, Mike and Lindsey Sanders, Catherine, Dan and Steve Upchurch, and Rebecca and Tom Davis; and 3 step-great-grandchildren, Brody, Avery and Remy Barker. Funeral services for Mr. Fisk will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 5, at Haven Church, 5350 N. Sprinkle Road, with Pastor Cecil Martens and Pastor Brian Stone officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM on Friday, tJanuary 4, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Haven Church, Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, or a charity of one?s choice.
