William Earle Miller

William Earle Miller, 85, passed on peacefully at home on Saturday, December 1, 2018. He was born July 18, 1933 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Earle and Elsa "Pat" (Pfeffer) Miller. Bill graduated high school in Grand Rapids and received his Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University and his Master's in Economics from the University of Chicago. He was a CPA and worked as an accountant for several companies including Mastercraft, Kalamazoo Products, and Hazelton Research, before his retirement in 1992. Bill was a member of the Michigan Association of CPAs, the Self Help for the Hard of Hearing group, and was a lifetime member of the Congregational Church. On August 25, 1972, Bill married Mary Jane Earl, who he had met at the interdenominational Supper Club. They shared 46 wonderful years laughing, traveling, camping, canoeing, and sharing life together with their family. He loved to encourage his daughters, spend time with his grandchildren, and go on adventures as a family. Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Miller; his daughters: Cathy Miller, Dr. Amy (David) Miller and Ann (Peter) DeJong; his grandchildren: Lilia Miller, Madeline, Henry and William "Remi" DeJong; his sister-in-law, Eve Hill; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Barbara Vaughan, Patricia Respondek, Daniel Hill, and Sally Hill. The family will greet friends on Thursday, December 6th from 4:00-8:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., Kalamazoo. A funeral service will take place Friday, December 7th at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo, 345 W. Michigan Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49007, with Reverend Nathan Dennison officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 2036 20th St., Watson, MI 49010.
