DE BRUYN, William Jr.
Kalamazoo, Michigan On Tuesday, January 6, 2009, Bill was transitioned from this life to live eternally with his heavenly Father and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born February 26, 1930 in Kalamazoo, to William Sr. and Nellie Hoogenboom De Bruyn. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1951-1952. He retired from Precision Heat Treating Company. Bill was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church. On June 27, 1958 he was united in marriage to Karen Ritsema, who preceded him in death in December of 2007. He has two children, 1 daughter and 1 son, Crystal "June" Curtis Bassler and Ross De Bruyn; 4 grandchildren, Justin Bassler, Josh Bassler, Katelynn De Bruyn and Amanda De Bruyn; 1 brother, Jerry De Bruyn and 1 sister-in-law, Janice De Bruyn; 2 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law, Evelyn Donald Musselman and Joyce Boyd Slocum; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brother, Robert De Bruyn in October 2007. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11:00AM from the Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Road with Rev.Dr. Warren Lammers, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Thursday from 5-8 PM.
