of Kalamazoo, Michigan Died Wednesday afternoon August 8, 2012. William was born March 15, 1923 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of William and Frances Pikkaart Chapman, Sr. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Navy. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with the Eaton Corporation for 37 years, retiring in 1981. William was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Audrey Potgiesser. On May 30, 1964, he was united in marriage to Avis A. Kinney Chapman who survives. Also surviving, 7 children, William Carol Chapman of Hickory Corners, Barry Candy Chapman of Kalamazoo, Larry Thompson of Traverse City, Judy Al VanderVeen of Parchment, Louis DeLobel of Kalamazoo, Steven Sue Hays DeLobel of Scotts, and Wynn Peggy DeLobel of St. Petersburg, FL; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a brother, Eugene Helen Chapman of Portage; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 11 o'clock Tuesday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Visitation will be 6-8pm Monday. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Southern Care Hospice or Park Place Living Center.
