Of Portage Will "Bud" joined his Lord on January 28, 2012. He was born February 9, 1943, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Willard "Red" and Ann Teare. Will graduated from high school in Cheboygan, Michigan, in 1961 and moved to Kalamazoo to attend Western Michigan University. He was united in marriage on May 18, 1968, to the love of his life, Linda Ellen Thompson. Will retired from the Comstock BOC Division of General Motors after 32 years of service. Activities he enjoyed include a passion for snow skiing, bowling, fishing, hunting, golfing, gardening, reading and traveling with his family and friends. He volunteered his time for the blind ski program B.O.L.D., West Middle School Ski Club, middle school tutoring, various church activities, and Meals on Wheels. He is survived by his wife, Linda; two daughters, Kimberly Tim Smith and Jennifer Chad Redman; six wonderful grandchildren; mother-in-law, Marleah Thompson; brother, Glenn Velma Teare; sister, Shirley Donald Ringo; brother-in-law, Bradley Susan Thompson; sister-in- law Paula Stephen Reiley; as well as three generations of nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Will's life will be held on Saturday, February 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeland Reformed Church, 10442 Sprinkle Rd. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, February 3, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., or on Saturday the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Gilson Cemetery, Scotts. The family requests memorial contributions may be directed to the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center Research Fund, Lakeland Reformed Church, or Copper Mountain Community Church.
