Wilfred Thiel Blakely

On January 10, 2025, Wilfred Thiel Blakely, a loving husband and father, went to be with the Lord surrounded by family. He was born in Muskegon on December 15, 1950, to Thiel and Catherine Blakely.

In 1970, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served aboard the USS John Marshall for six years. In 1983 he married Sharon (Haagsma) and they shared 41 wonderful years together.

Wilfred was an avid amateur photographer and enjoyed gardening, carpentry, archery, bowling, skating, fishing, and being an overall handyman

In his professional life, he was a computer programmer for Gilmore and later worked at EIMO Technologies running automotive and hospital bed part manufacturing equipment.

He is survived by his wife Sharon, children Edna, Sarah (Jacob), and Philip (Melissa), 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Home 411 East Centre Ave. Portage, MI 49002 on Friday, January 24, 2025. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm when the funeral service begins. A procession will take family and friends to Mt Ever Rest Memorial Park South for a committal service and the rendering of military funeral honors.
