Wilda Miller

Wilda Jean (Isaacs) Miller, age 96, died on August 5, 2024, at Thurston Woods Nursing Center, Sturgis, Michigan, after declining in health the last few months. She was born on July 5, 1928, to Sylvia (McCain) and Glen Isaacs in Canton, Ohio. She graduated from Kokomo High School and attended Bible College, where she met her future husband.

On June 7, 1952, she was married to Vernon F. Miller. They pastored multiple Assembly of God churches in Indiana and Michigan. Their longest pastorate was at Christian Assembly of God in Portage, Michigan, where Wilda still served as Women’s Ministries Leader.

For several years, she co-owned and helped her husband run an insurance agency in Indiana. She retired in 1990 from Transamerica Insurance in customer service. After retirement, she continued to work - first as a Tea Hostess, then at Dempsey’s Custard, and lastly at Dairy Queen in Portage (all in the same location).

Wilda loved Jesus and sought to share His love with others. She enjoyed playing piano, coloring, going out to eat, and most of all spending time with her family. She had a contagious laugh and was loved by all.

She is survived by her children: Cynthia (Richard) Miller of Portage, MI, Terry (Susan) Miller of Fall Creek, WI and Scott (Becky) Miller of Sturgis, MI; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her sister, Phyllis Miller; her brother, Michael Isaacs; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, of nearly 63 years, Vernon Miller, her twin infant sons: Dwight David and Duane Lee, two sisters: Marilyn Bagley and Betty Garner, and a brother, James Isaacs.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM/Noon on Saturday, August 10th at the Christian Assembly of God, 7835 Lovers Lane, where her service will be held at 12:00 PM/Noon with Pastor Ted Mitchell officiating. A private entombment will be held of Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Christian Assembly of God Church.
