Wilbur Ortega

Wilbur David Ortega passed away on July 22, 2024, at Vineyard Assisted Living. He was born on November 30, 1928, in Santiago, Chile, the son of Amable Francisco and Elizabeth Fulton Ortega. He married Edna Barr on June 10, 1951. 

Wil graduated from Weehawken High School in New Jersey in 1946 and he graduated from Rutgers University in 1950. He worked for the Upjohn Company until his retirement December 31, 1991. He received the prestigious Upjohn President’s Award in 1969.

Wil was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Ortega, his twin brother, Frank Ortega, and his sister, Sally Parks. 

He is survived by his children Michael (Cindy) Ortega, Jim (Kathy) Ortega, David (Sally) Ortega, and Nancy McGraw; his grandchildren Lauren (Steven) Falconer, Julie Ortega, James (Rebecca) Ortega, Jason (Billy) Morton-Ortega, David (Abbey Blocker) Ortega, Jenny (Patrick) Kimmel, Stewart (Amy) Miller, Brandon (Lana) Miller, and Kristy Miller; great grandchildren Avery and Wilson Ortega, Louisa and Beau Morton-Ortega, Nikko Ortega, Tyler, Christian and Connor Kimmel, Charlie, Simon and Addison Miller, Caleb and Alyssa Miller-Sootsman; and one great great grandchild Rosalie Ann Hilton Sootsman.

A private burial will take place at a future date.
