KNAPP, Mr. Wesley L.
Kalamazoo, Michigan Died Wednesday afternoon March 11, 2009. Wesley was born November 20, 1920 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Lee and Belle Currier Knapp. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater and was a certified member of the Caterpillar Club. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed in various power plant related jobs throughout the state of Michigan and retired from Georgia Pacific in 1985. Wesley was a past local president of the National Association of Power Engineers; and volunteered over 6000 hours at the Kalamazoo Air Museum the past 19 years. He was also a member of the Sunnyside United Methodist Church; Disabled American Veterans; Kalamazoo Masons; Instruments Society of America; and the American Legion #298 of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edna M. Knapp on July 30, 2007; and a daughter, Elizabeth. He is survived by a son, Michael Bonnie Knapp of Galesburg; 5 grandchildren, Michael Stephanie Knapp, Wesley Carrie Knapp, Gregory and Sheryl Knapp, Jason and Illeanna Knapp, and Paul Berky; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Cook of Parchment; and 2 nephews. Services will be held 11 o'clock Monday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway Visitation will be 2-6pm Sunday. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes or the Kalamazoo Air Museum. www.langelands.com . 343-1508.
