Wayne O. Packard

November 20, 1920 — November 4, 2007

PACKARD, Wayne O.
Kalamazoo Passed away Sunday, November 4, 2007. He was born November 20, 1920 in South Haven, the son of Oscar H., Sr. and Susan Frances Schoolcraft Packard and had lived in the Kalamazoo area for several years. One of Wayne?s biggest disappointments came in 1942, when after completing the Air Force pilot training program, he was called in and told that he would not be gradating because of an ear problem. He held on to the love of flying through out his life and loved to talk with anyone who had flown a plane. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union, local 357. He had worked on the Palisades Power Plant, the Upjohn Company, WMU and many other projects. In later life, Wayne took up golf and was completely happy when on the course. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Betty J. Weber, his son, Michael Packard and his brother, Oscar Packard, Jr. He will be sadly missed by his niece, Jill VanLuke; his great nephew, David Messina VanLuke; his great niece, Holly Waldron; 2 great great nephews, David Tifft and Wesley Waldron; great great niece, Georgia Waldron; and many cousins. Wayne was fortunate to have had wonderful neighbors over the years. Special to him were Scott Tracy Moerman, Sandra Pete Oram and their children, Anne Pearson and the Harold Forsland family. Committal services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to FRAXA, 45 Pleasant St., Newburyport, MA 01950. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. www.langelands.com 343-1508
