BLAKESLEE, Wayne M. ?Joe?
Galesburg Wayne died Saturday, November 3, 2007, in his home after a long fight with cancer. He was born February 16, 1947, in Ashtabula, OH, a son of Edwin M. and Inez W. Adams Blakeslee. Wayne grew up in Pullman, MI. Wayne was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving four years during the Vietnam War as a corpsman. Wayne graduated from Albion College with a degree in business. He worked in property management for over 30 years, beginning his career with Robert Britigan & Company and remaining with the company through company mergers to Signature Associates. He lived most of his life in Galesburg, MI. Wayne served as Moderator/Trustee at Galesburg Congregational United Church of Christ for several years. Wayne was a special person; much loved by his family who meant the world to him. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Russell Blakeslee and a grandson, Ryan Markham Blakeslee. On November 28, 1992, he married Lois Lindsey, who survives. Also surviving are: two daughters, Ashlee N. Borr and Keirsha P. Blakeslee; son, Justin M. Nicole Blakeslee; Seth, his grandson whom he loved dearly; step-son, Brian E. Melissa Lindsey; four sisters, Diane Jerry Denison, Connie Blakeslee, Shelle Jeff Cramer and Karen Lee Albertson; brother, Richard Jill Blakeslee; two brothers-in-law, Mark Dolph and David Debbie Dolph; and several aunt, uncles, nieces and nephews. Services will be held 12:00 noon Wednesday at Galesburg Congregational United Church of Christ, 22 S. Church St., with the Rev. Whitney Brown, officiating. Burial in Fort Custer National Cemetery will follow. Family and friends will gather for visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Memorials should be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or to Galesburg Congregational United Church of Christ.
