ALLEN, Wandalee Lock
Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away Tuesday morning, October 20, 2009 at the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Lee was born June 2, 1920 in Mason City, Iowa the daughter of John and Dorothy Wepkey Lock. She graduated from Mason City High School and Mason City Junior College. She met John, the love of her life after moving to Cedar Rapids during World War II. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, John W. Allen; children, David W. Rhonda Allen of Eden Prairie, MN, Marjory A. Gary Dietz of Edina, MN; a grandson Tyler W. Allen, a senior at Ohio State University; a brother, Russell Lock of Liberty, MO; and several nieces and nephews. As a fulltime homemaker, after her children were born, Lee enriched the lives of her family, friends, and all who encountered her. Lee was an active volunteer at First Presbyterian Church, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and P.E.O. She loved golf, gardening, music, sports of all kinds, and ballroom dancing. Lee also enjoyed multiple bridge groups of which she was a member of for at least 50 years. In accordance to her wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service to celebrate Lee's life will be held at 2:00 o'clock Monday, November 2, 2009 at the Kalamazoo First Presbyterian Church, 321 West South St. with Rev. Wayne Conner officiating. Private interment will be in the church columbarium. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church or Hospice Services of Southwest Michigan.
