Wanda Mae VanMiddlesworth

Wanda Mae VanMiddlesworth passed away in Newport Beach, CA on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born on October 14, 1934, in East Leroy, MI the daughter of Glenn and Merlah (Spooner) Green and had been an area resident for about eighty years.

After graduating from Athens High School in 1952, she married William “Bill” VanMiddlesworth on October 25, 1952. Bill and Wanda were full time farmers for 65 years in the Fulton and Climax area. Wanda loved to milk cows and enjoyed life on the farm. She was a reader, sewer, and great baker; she was best known for her carrot cake, and she passed this recipe and skill to her granddaughters.

Wanda was a very active bowler participating in three different leagues for over forty years. She also spent many years with her ceramics group. Wanda enjoyed riding her bike so much that she rode it from her home in Fulton all the way to Niagara Falls. Bill and Wanda were also involved with the First Congregational Church of Leroy and Wakeshma Community Church since their wedding in 1952.

Wanda is survived by a daughter and son-in law Susan and Steve Nunnally of California and two granddaughters, Abigail and Alexandra. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents, four children, her brother, Ervin Green and her sister, Waneta Cobb.

Funeral services for Wanda will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services 3926 S. 9th St. Kalamazoo, MI 49009 on Tuesday, October 1. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 am until 11:00 am when a funeral service will begin. A lunch at the funeral home will follow the service. Wanda will be laid in eternal rest beside Bill at Leroy Congregational Cemetery during a private family ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Wanda may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child.
