Kalamazoo, MI Virginia died early Wednesday morning, July 29, 2009, in Kalamazoo. She was born July 27, 1921, in Lawton, MI, a daughter of Harlow and Mary Stuck Cross and had lived in Kalamazoo for most of her adult life. Virginia was an active member of Sunnyside United Methodist Church and involved with the Eastwood Community Association. In her free time she loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. On August 23, 1941 Virginia was united in marriage with Roland A. Schram, who preceded her in death on October 2, 1999. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; twin sister, Vivian Haney; older sister, Helen Bowman; three brothers, Frank, Harry and Richard Cross; and a great-grandson, Shane Hunter. Virginia is survived by: three children and their spouses, Rolene Dennis Leathers of Kalamazoo, Mike Joanne Schram of Kalamazoo and Pat Tom Hunter of Bloomingdale; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Delores VanderLip; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2:00 Friday tomorrow afternoon at Sunnyside United Methodist Church, 2800 Gull Rd., with Rev. Matt Weiler, officiating. Private inurnment will be held on a later date in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Virginia's family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to Sunnyside United Methodist Church or the Kalamazoo Humane Society.
