VAN DALSON, Mrs. Virginia M.
Galesburg, Michigan Virginia Marie Van Dalson, age 96, died peacefully at her home on Friday, November 23, 2012. She was born on Sunday, February 27, 1916, in Ann Arbor, MI, a daughter of the late Lester A. and Marie H. Wheeler Warren. On June 29, 1934, Virginia was united in marriage with Edward S. Van Dalson and they were blessed with the birth of their only child, William, in 1935. Ed and Virginia moved to Kalamazoo where Ed founded Kalamazoo Stamping and Die. Virginia enjoyed playing golf and entertaining guests. She was a member of the Kalamazoo Country Club, The Park Club and The Beacon Club. Virginia and Ed were very generous to many community organizations including: Kalamazoo New Year's Fest, 141 E. Michigan Ave., Suite 100, Kalamazoo, MI 49007; Kalamazoo in Bloom, 346 W. Michigan Avenue, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007; Kalamazoo College, 1200 Academy, Kalamazoo, MI 49007; Kalamazoo Valley Community College, P.O. Box 4070, Kalamazoo, MI 49003; Family & Children Services, Inc., 1608 Lake Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49001; Pretty Lake Vacation Camp, 9123 West Q Avenue, Mattawan, MI 49071; The Salvation Army, 1700 South Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49001; Kalamazoo River Valley Trail way Fund, 151 South Rose Street, Suite 331, Kalamazoo, MI 49007 and others. Virginia was preceded in death by: her husband, Edward Van Dalson; son and daughter-in-law, William and Lois Van Dalson; and two sisters, Mary Jean Wessel and Dora Gail Murphy. She is survived by: a grandson, Edward Schuyler Van Dalson; a sister, Margaret Ann Walroth; a brother, Lester C. "Bud" Warren; two local nieces, Judy Vander Kolk and Shelby Van Dalson; and several other nieces and nephews. A brief service of remembrance will be held at 11:30 Thursday morning at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, followed by a reception and luncheon. Private burial in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South, will follow services. Memorials may be directed to one of the above mentioned organizations or to the charity of one's choice.
