Crawford, Virginia Nellie Schippers age 86 Scotts, MI formerly of Kalamazoo, Portage and Paw Paw Announcing her arrival into Heaven on April 10, 2011. Virginia Gin was born in Kalamazoo on July 28, 1924, the loving daughter of Thomas and Geneva Roeland Schippers and was raised in the Kalamazoo Lake street area. As a child she loved school and playing softball with the neighbor kids, helping her mother with house work, fishing and hunting with her father and brother Bob. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central, then met and fell in love with Milo Wesley Crawford. They were married on Friday, October the 13th, 1944, celebrating a total of 57 years. Virginia's family was her life, she worked with her parents at their grocery store in Mattawan, kept the books for the family business - Kalamazoo Drywall, rode horses and camped with her children and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. All while working at Kalamazoo court house, Shakespeare Co. and assisting all the students and professors in the general studies department of Western Michigan University. After retirement, she stayed very active bowling, fishing, working in her yard tending her flower gardens, enjoying her family and remodeling their home. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents Geneva Roeland and Thomas Schippers, brothers Robert, Adrian, Ronald and sister Annabelle, husband Milo W. Crawford, great granddaughters Kayleigh, Rebeka and several nephews. Surviving are her children Michael and Ellen Crawford of Schoolcraft, Janice and Hans Kruissel of Vicksburg, Kim Crawford and Conrad Bitely of Scotts, Tim and Diane Crawford of Lawton, grandchildren Stephanie, Mark, Jeff, Amy, Kelly, Mateo, Kevin, Kimmberly, Michael, Daniel and Jessica. Great grandchildren Logan, Kristopher, Elisabeth, Ariana, Dante, Klaire and Shelby, her brother Donald Schippers and wife Evelyn, brother-in-law Harold and wife Jo Crawford, nieces, nephews and a wonderful friend, Robbie Yerge. Special thanks to Pat Doerr niece for all her love, time and attention. Per Virginia's wishes cremation has taken place and no funeral will be held. Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of your choosing. Burial will take place at Mount Ever-Rest Cemetery in Kalamazoo. Mother you will be greatly missed. We love you!!!
