SWANSON, Violet Mae
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away July 5, 2012 at the age of 74. Violet was born May 30, 1938 in Jamestown, ND to the late Johnston W. and Orala F. Leslie Miller. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Swanson in 1978 for a loving 34 years together. Violet held many jobs, but most recently worked for Jim Kniffin and Marty Wager as a real estate appraiser. Violet enjoyed many hobbies. These included boating, square dancing, playing cards or Bunco, and travel, but what she enjoyed most in life was spending time with her family. She was strong in her faith and loved to sing the hymns at Calvary Reformed Church, where she was a member. Surviving Violet are her husband, Kenneth Swanson; children, Darrin Kay Walters of Lawton and David Sandy Walters of Kalamazoo; 4 grandchildren, Andrew Walters, Elizabeth Charles Lynch, Rachael Walters and Ashley Brett Lysak; 1 great-granddaughter, Izabella; brother, Douglas Judy Miller; sister, Valzora Douglas Pardee; step-children, Stacey, Angie and Ginger; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Violet in death was her brother, Johnston "Jack" Miller, Jr. Family will receive friends on Monday at 9:00 AM with a memorial service starting at 10:00 AM at Calvary Reformed Church, 7829 S. 5th Street, Mattawan, with a luncheon to follow.
