GROESBECK, Violet M.
Portage Violet passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the age of 95. She was born May 11, 1919, on Mother's Day, to the late Charles W. and Minnie E. Curtis Cross. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1937. Violet was united in marriage to Carlton W. Groesbeck on September 25, 1937. He preceded her in death in February of 1995 after 58 years of marriage. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Violet is survived by her daughter, Lynnet Milton Bennett; 5 grandchildren, Michele Leonard, Craig Maria Dahlinger McIlroy, Kurt McIlroy, Jeffery Groesbeck and Todd Groesbeck; 2 great-grandchildren, Jason McIlroy and Kaylee McIlroy; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her son, Rodney Groesbeck; and brother, Daniel Cross. The family will greet friends on Friday, January 16th from 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, 11:00am at Milwood United Methodist Church, 3919 Portage St., Rev. Heather Molner officiating. A private burial will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to the church.
