Of Kalamazoo Vincent went to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, Sep. 10, 2011. He was born August 27, 1941 in Pontiac, MI, the son of Joseph and Meredith Lumley Candela. His childhood was spent in Otter Lake, MI. After High School, he attended Ferris State University where he received a Pharmacy Degree. His interest in Pharmacy and Pharmaceuticals carried through his whole life. Vince belonged to several Professional Pharmacy groups which kept him up-to- date with current medical studies. His work career began at Borgess Hospital and led to The Upjohn Company through Pharmacia and retiring from Pfizer, where he managed the Global Call Center. Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Janice; two sons, Kevin Tuli Candela and Christopher Candela; one brother, Joseph Jill Candela, two nephews, Joseph and James; and many cousins. The family will greet friends on Tuesday and Wednesday from 3-8 pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., with a Scripture Service on Wednesday 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday at St. Monica Catholic Church, 530 W. Kilgore Rd., with Fr. Wieslaw Lipka celebrant. Private family burial will be in Otter Lake Cemetery, Otter Lake, MI. Memorials in Vince's name may be directed to the American Diabetes Assoc. or Hospice Care of Southwestern Michigan.
