KINNER, Vida Marie
Portage Passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Vida was born December 3, 1937 in Detroit, the daughter of James E. and Marie E. Ibershoff Vincenty and had lived in the Kalamazoo area for many years. She was a graduate of Dearborn High School and graduated from Michigan State University in 1959 with her BS in Nursing and licensing as a Registered Nurse. Vida was employed at Mt. Carmel Hospital and the Visiting Nurses Association in Detroit and taught at the Borgess School of Nursing in Kalamazoo. She also served Borgess Hospital as a staff nurse, was with the Upjohn Health Care System and was an Insurance Assessor. On April 23, 1960, she married John H. Kinner, who survives. Vida is also survived by their children, Scott John Heidi Kinner and Anne Marie Thomas Fleming of Portage; grandchildren, Tamara, Shelby and Kaitlyn Fleming; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Donna Vasiloff. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Kevin Covert on Saturday at 10:30 AM in St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Ave. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. on Friday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. www.langelands.com 343-1508
