SCHIPPER, Verdena J.
Kalamazoo, MI Went home to be with the Lord Friday afternoon October 1, 2010. Verdena was born August 8, 1935 in Grant, Michigan a daughter of John and Sarah Mouthaan Schipper. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of her life and was employed with the Upjohn Company for 37 years before retiring. Verdena was also a member of Hope Reformed Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Church Librarian. She was preceded in death by her parents. Verdena is survived by a brother, Bert Leona Schipper; 2 nephews, John Laurel Schipper and Jim Lori Schipper; a niece, Barbara Schipper; 6 great nieces and nephews, Michael, Derek, Scott, Sara, Ben, and Emily; and a dear friend, Linda DeGraaff of Kalamazoo. Services will be held 11 o'clock Tuesday at Hope Reformed Church, 910 Jenks Blvd. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Private interment will be in East Martin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hope Reformed Church Library Fund. The family would also like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Friendship Village Healthcare Center for the wonderful care Verdena received over the years.
