Vera Z. Millers

MILLERS, Vera Z. Of Kalamazoo Passed away Saturday February 3, 2007. Vera was born May 5, 1922 in Mezmuiza, Latvia, the daughter of Ansis and Ottilija Retters Ceksters and was a Kalamazoo area resident since 1952. For many years she was employed at the Stanley and Ruth Gilmore residence and later in several private homes. She was a member of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran United Church of Kalamazoo, the Daugavas Vanagi and the Kalamazoo Latvian Association. On December 29, 1945 she was united in marriage to Augusts Millers who preceded her in death on August 11, 1988. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Imants Rapa on October 12, 2002. Surviving are her daughter, Olivia Rapa of Kalamazoo; her son, Julius Judy Millers of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Erik and Arnold Rapa, Robert Maria Millers, Janice and Adam Millers; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Anna Rapa, Sierra, Josh, Alyssa Millers and Tyler Boyle; her brother, Kris Retter of Kalamazoo. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street where Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Biruta Puike officiating. Following services cremation will take place and her remains will be interred in Latvia. Memorials in Vera?s memory may be directed to the Latvian Center Garezers School, the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran United Church of Kalamazoo, or the American Diabetes Association.
