Vera F. Burns

BURNS, Vera F. Kettler, Lammott of Scotts Joined our Lord on Sunday, May 1st 2011 at age 91. Born July 29, 1919 in Richmond, Indiana to August and Callie Kettler, she was the 6th of 11 children. Vera was raised in the Richmond area and in 1936 married Robert S. Lammott. They moved to the Three Rivers area where they owned and operated "Bob and Vera's Resort". Vera and Bob had 5 children: Walter Mabel Lammott, Doris Paul Lovett, JoAnna Ron Bailey, Bobby Lammott, and Georgia Kerry Gunn, In 1958 Vera moved to the Scotts area and married Norman J Burns. They had two children: James "JD" Nancy Burns and Jesse Cindy Burns. Vera's life wasn't always easy, but she always made her family a priority. She worked as a teacher's aid in the Comstock Public Schools, a licensed realtor and bookkeeper for Century 21 Real Estate in Portage, and for many years, did income tax and volunteer work. She was a member of Scotts United Methodist Church. Vera knitted hundreds of baby hats and donated them to Borgess Hospital. Her family would like to say a special "Thank You" to the staff of Kairos Dwelling and Borgess VNA and Hospice for the compassionate care they gave her and her family during last week of life. Funeral services for Vera will be at 12:30 PM on Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek Street, with Pastor Glenn Litchfield officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
