Galesburg Tressie passed away Saturday afternoon, January 19, 2008 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born January 2, 1916 in Ganges, MI, the daughter of Ralph and Elizabeth Selby Keeler. Tressie was employed at Kalamazoo State Hospital as a nurse attendant for many years, until her retirement in 1980. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, painting, gardening, cooking great meals, exercise class, and spending time with her husband and family. On July 20, 1940, Tressie was united in marriage to her true love, Eugene E. Guyberson, in Napoleon, Ohio, who preceded her in death on November 22, 2001. Also preceding her in death are her parents; 2 brothers, Clesson and Ralph "Bud" Keeler; 2 sisters, Frances Keeler and Dorothy Minor; and a grandson, James Johnson. Surviving are two children, Barbara John Sr. Johnson, and Eugene Guyberson Jr.; 3 grandchildren, Victoria Johnson, Rachiel Scott Hill, John Johnson Jr.; and 2 great-grandchildren, Daniel and Ashley Hill; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews in Michigan and Florida. Services for Tressie will be at 11:30 AM on Friday at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, with Rev. Theda McBryde, chaplain for Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek Street.
