Todra Lynn Haist

Todra Lynn Haist passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Todra was born December 26, 1963 in Hartford City, Indiana to Connie Garrett and Vernon “Todd” Taylor.

Todra attended classes at KVCC and Nazareth College for Nursing and later worked at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She met her husband, Donald Haist, while working at ArvCo in Kalamazoo, Michigan. 

Todra was enamored with painting, she could often be found recreating portraits of medieval woman such as the Mona Lisa and Mary Magdalene from the artist Michelangelo. She would knit gloves, scarves, hats, and doilies in her free time. She was an avid collector of clothes or shoes that struck her fancy, she had a taste for the finer things. She gardened in her free time, tending to her Rhododendron tree, hyacinth flowers, and herbs. In the summer you could sit on the back patio to enjoy the squirrels and smell the fruits of her labor. She even made friends with a very inquisitive squirrel, as she was a lover of animals. But she had two pets that held a special place in her heart, Monty the cat and Sporty the dog. They could often be found trailing behind her to track her progress throughout the day.

Todra was preceded in death by her brother; Jesse Cahue Jr., grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Garrett, and her uncle; Noble Leon Garrett.

Surviving Todra are daughters; April, Heather, Sarah, and Emily, ten grandchildren, sister; Norma Wiers, and niece; Kelsey Wiers.
