TAMMELING, Tjapko
Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away Thursday, January 1, 2009. Tjapko was born February 6, 1914, in Appingdan, The Netherlands, the son of Tjapko and Anje VanderLinde Tammeling. He immigrated to the United States from The Netherlands where he was trained as an electrician. Tjapko has been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1957 and was employed as an electrician for many years with the Continental Can Company. In 1940, he was united in marriage to the former Jantien Cazemier who preceded him in death on December 7, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents and by all of his siblings. Surviving are two daughters, Anje J. "Ann" Hank Perdok of Kalamazoo and Maria J. Allen of Kalamazoo; two granddaughters, Renee' J. Daniel Perdok-Falotico and Monique M. David Perdok-Shonka; a great-grandson, Benjamin D. Shonka; and many nieces and nephews in The Netherlands. In accordance with Tjapko's wishes there will be no visitation or services. A private family burial will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
