Passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the age of 56. He was born September 3, 1959 in Kalamazoo to Joseph V, Sr. and Ruth Ann (Korvela) Melwiki.
Tim grew up in Kalamazoo and graduated high school from Plainwell, with the class of 1978. He played football and track and excelled in both sports. After high school, he attended State Tech at Pine Lake and became a gifted cabinet maker and made many beautiful pieces of furniture, all of which are now family heirlooms which will be passed on to generations to come. Tim loved his cat "Tom Tom", his birds and all of our family dogs throughout the years. He looked forward to all of our family gatherings at Mom and Dad's on Pine Lake so he could see the family that he loved so much. If you met Tim for the first time, you knew from his greeting, that he was genuine and very happy to meet you. Although he lived a life of simple means, he treasured all of his friendships, no matter who came in and out of his life. I'm writing this with tears in my eyes, but I know that Tim, who was our protector from the bully on the bus, is now well protected by God himself and is in a wonderful place with our family in heaven.Timothy is survived by his parents, Joseph, Sr. and Ruth Ann Melwiki; brothers, Michael J. Melwiki, Joseph "Joey" (Diane) Melwiki, Jr. and Paul (Amy) Melwiki; nieces and nephews, Kerrie, Jeremy, Kyle, Jenna, Amanda, Benjamin and Jeanie; and great niece and nephew, Ryder and Veda. Timothy was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen M. Campbell; grandparents, Ruby and Ensio Korvela & Rose and Frank Melwiki; and nephew, Jimmy.The family will greet friends on Saturday, March 19th from 12-1:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, where a memorial service will begin at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Timothy's name may be directed to Animal Rescue Project, 219 Peekstock Rd. Kalamazoo, MI 49001.
