Timothy Clinton Durbin Jr. was born on October 31, 1932, in Bliss, Missouri to Timothy Clinton Sr., and Mary Alice (Dobbs) Durbin. The Lord called him home after a brief illness on April 25, 2023, in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Tim was a hardworking man his entire life. He picked cotton as a child to help support his family. While an adult living in Arkansas, he worked on food producing and livestock farms. He also worked at the local sawmills as a boilermaker, and assisted the local police, firefighters and churches he attended.
In 1955, he joined the U.S. Army and proudly served in the 5th Armored Division as an Engineer and was honorably discharged in 1957 at the rank of Sergeant.
After moving to Michigan he worked as a Leadman in the fabrication department at North American Aluminum. He worked there before retiring in 1996.
In his spare time he loved hunting, fishing, playing the guitar, gardening (giving excess produce from the garden to family, friends and others in need), camping, walking the Mackinaw Bridge on Labor Day, travelling, and enjoyed spending time with his family and having Sunday dinners.
In 1957, on a blind date, he met the love of his life, Glenda Hensley. They married in May of 1958 in Pocahontas, Arkansas and they were married for almost 65 years.
Tim is survived by his loving wife Glenda. Two daughters, Peggy (Bob) Jolliffe and Lanette Durbin, all of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Grandchildren Bryan (Chrissy) Jolliffe, Breann (Terrill) Jolliffe-Gardner, and Joseph (Tori) Rivera. Great Grandchildren Adeline, Landon, Sophia and the fourth which he referred to as “Peanut” is due in October 2023.
