LAGSDIN, Tiland "Don" Don peacefully passed away early Thursday morning, May 3, 2012 at his home. He was born June 16, 1918 in Kalamazoo, the son of Charles and Telger Mejulish Lagsdin. He was united in marriage to the former Francesca "Frances" Monzulla on April 25, 1942. They were married for 67 years, until her passing on November 2, 2009. Surviving are their two sons, Steven Lagsdin of Kalamazoo David Lagsdin of Chicago, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Helen Stine; and two brothers, Waldie and Oscar Lagsdin. Committal services with military honors for Don were held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Don was born in Kalamazoo, but moved to Manitoba, Canada, at an early age where he worked on the family farm and later as a trapper for the Hudson Bay Company. He returned to this country shortly before World War II where he later served as a Military Policeman in Hawaii. Renowned by those who knew him for his huge heart and generosity, Tiland also pursued his own interests which included gardening, fishing, reading history books and mastering checkers and blackjack. His son Steven would like to thank, with the most profound gratitude, the following: Hospice Care Of Southwest Michigan, The Kalamazoo County Area on Aging, Dr. Al Cabala and staff, his loving and devoted home aides Lois Brasher, Jenny Lind and Jennifer Root, the families who consistently delivered their delicious home-cooked meals to him Foldesis, Rolfes and Plucienik/Scribner, and Don's fantastic buddy, Stephen Lafalce. With Don's passing, all of us must now swiftly increase our kind words and gestures to commemorate him. Start now. Committal services with military honors for Don were held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta . Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street.
