Thomas “Tom” William Brady, 67 of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday morning, November 5, 2023. He was the son of William and Patricia (Phillips) Brady, born in Kalamazoo on October 12, 1956.
As a young boy, Tom attended Barbour Hall Junior Military Academy. He was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School where he played football.
Tom married Susan Kitzmiller in 1995, they were blessed to spend over 28 years together.
Tom was a concrete truck driver for Statler Concrete and Supply Company for over thirty years and continued to work there after they were absorbed by Consumers Concrete Products.
Tom loved to be outdoors, especially being on a beach and around water. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, canoeing, and golfing. He and Sue have many fond memories of trips to Flagler Beach, FL, camping at Jones Lake Campground, and floating down the Pine River.
Tom was a charcoal grill master and loved grilling for friends and family. He enjoyed sitting on the deck or on the beach with his toes in the sand, taking in the scenery and watching wildlife.
Tom will be remembered for his heart of gold and bright smile that could warm a room. He was a true character, and you never knew what might come out. He loved music and could sing along to any song that came on, making him a great karaoke star.
Above all, Tom adored his family and they will forever cherish his memory.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Sue; son Jonathan (Kelly); grandchildren Brianna, Bo, Ava, Jacob, Katie, and Trenton; brother Joe (Lien); sister Jane (Danny) Schuur; nieces and nephews Jenny (Greg), Danny, Kara (Tristin), and Jacob (Brittany); sister-in-law Penny (Randy) Terry and nephew Dennis (Tara), sister-in-law Pam Fry and neices Amy and Heather; and lifelong friends Joe and Sharon Case and Steve Maystead along with many other close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jeffrey, aunt Jackie, uncle Mike, and special nephew Eric.
A memorial service for Tom will be held at Greater Joy Church of God 6016 King Hwy, Kalamazoo, MI 49048 on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 2:00 pm. Friends are invited to lunch following the service at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1332 Branch St. Kalamazoo, MI 49001. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Tom to Wing’s of Hope Hospice 530 Linn St. Allegan, MI 49010.
