STREET, Thomas E.
of Portage, Michigan Tom passed away at his home on February 5th of natural causes. Tom was born November 26, 1949 in New Madrid, MO. He moved to the Kalamazoo area with his mother and sister around the age of 2. The family moved to Portage when he was older. Tom graduated in 1968 from Portage Central High School. After graduation, he served in the United States Marine Corp from 1968 to 1970. He was a Viet Nam veteran. He married Chris Allard in 1979 and they started their family in 1981 with the birth of their son, Ben followed by another son, Josh in 1984. Tom enjoyed golfing and loved fishing, especially with his brother-in-law, Rob. Tom worked for the Kalamazoo Waste Water Treatment Plant for 20 years and retired from there in 2011. Tom is survived by his wife, Chris; sons, Ben, Josh and Josh's girlfriend, Sam Phillips; three sisters, Sherry Travis, Barb Page and Janice Olsen; his mother and father-in-law, Vernita & Bob Allard; many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was loved very much by all of them. He was preceded in death by his father, Elzy Street and his mother and step-father, Nettie and Oskar Dikerts. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 8, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre St.
