PRESTON, THOMAS W.
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Thomas W. Preston, age 68, passed away June 2, 2012, in Kalamazoo. Tom was born June 11, 1943, in Kalamazoo, the son of Richard and Jessie Johnson Preston. In 1961 he graduated from Hackett High School and in 1967 graduated from the College of Engineering at Western Michigan University. He was employed for many years as an electrical engineer and had overseen the construction of several nuclear power plants throughout the world. Tom enjoyed traveling and was a member of St. Augustine Cathedral and the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are several cousins: Norma Otten, Conny Greg Loftus, Nancy Wes Garman, Joe Jane Otten, Charles Jody Otten, Ted Mikelyn Otten and Karen Otten. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his cousin, William Otten and his family's namesake, Michael Preston Otten. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 7th from 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00pm Friday, June 8th at St. Augustine Cathedral 542 W. Michigan Ave. with Father Ted Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Memorials in Tom's memory may be direct to St. Augustine Cathedral.
