MC PHILAMY, Thomas F.

Died November 28, 2009 at Borgess Hospital. Tom was born January 28, 1931 in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of Thomas and Stella McPhilamy. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict and retired as District Manager from Michigan Bell Telephone in 1989. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church for many years and is currently a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. He was united in marriage on May 29, 1954 to Maxine Permoda Rademacher, who survives. Also surviving are five children, Michael and Gayle McPhilamy of Portage, Joan McPhilamy of Chicago, IL, Margaret and Michael Lanham of Britton, MI, Kathleen and Mark Oerther of Marshall and Charles and Zabrina McPhilamy of Marietta, GA; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter; a sister Mary and Carl Safranski of Belmont, MI; several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, December 2 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Ave. with Fr. Christopher Ankley, Celebrant. Friends may meet the family at the church beginning at 11:30 am Wednesday. Immediately following the Funeral Mass military honors will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in Tom's memory be made to Borgess Hospital Neuroscience Center or the Parkinson's Foundation of Michigan.
