Plainwell, Michigan Thomas died after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, October 25, 2008, at the VA Medical Center in Ann Arbor, MI. He was born January 10, 1950, in Youngstown, OH, a son of John and Elizabeth Fondulas Fabry. Thomas graduated from Struthers High School in Struthers, OH. He served in the US Navy from January 22, 1970 to December 31, 1973 and again from August 4, 1984 to November 3, 1996, when he retired. After his retirement from the Navy, Thomas began working at Benteler Automotive. Thomas loved riding his Harley and traveling with the SW Michigan HOG Association. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Fabry and his father-in-law, Robert Stickel, Sr. On December 27, 1998, Thomas was united in marriage with the former Terri Lee Stickel, who survives. Also surviving are: six children, Jeremy April Fabry, Angela Douglas Barman, Melissa Fabry, Michele Richard Coy, Carrie Conroy and David Shephard; eight grandchildren, Justin, Blake, David, Katie, Becky, Kendra, Karsyn and Kaleigh; a great-grandson, Danny; his father, John Fabry; his mother-in-law, Margaret Stickel; a brother, James Linda Fabry; a sister, Patricia Anthony Greico; a brother-in-law, Robert Cynthia Stickel, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Baldwin; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 Friday morning at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Ave., with Father Kevin Covert, celebrant. Interment with full military honors will follow in Fort Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests memorials be directed to VA Medical Center of Ann Arbor, Palliative Care.
