JOSLYN, Thomas E. Age 45 Battle Creek, Michigan Thomas passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, February 10, 2007 at his home. He was born October 9, 1961 in Kalamazoo, the son of Thomas G. Joslyn and the late Beverly M. Perkins Smith. Tom graduated from Athens High School in 1979; and attended Glenn Oaks College, earning an associates degree in 1982, and later earning his bachelor?s degree from Olivet College in 1984. He was an avid baseball player, playing all through high school and college. In 1986, he was a member of the Ferrari?s baseball team, when they won the Amateur National Baseball Championship. He played basketball in high school and refereed high school and college basketball for a number of years. Tom was active in his community; he was a mentor for Kids Hope, USA in Scotts, a kindergarten aide for Lakeview Schools, a youth hockey coach for Greater Battle Creek Ice Hockey Association and a youth baseball coach for Battle Creek Parks & Recreation. Tom worked for Kendall Industrial Supply from 1990 to 2002, and most recently has been employed by Kellogg for the past couple of years. On May 15, 1993, he was united in marriage to Kieu Rathbone in Climax, who survives. Also surviving are his 4 children, Chet, Michelle, Andrew, and Melissa Joslyn; his father and step-mother, Tom and Margie Joslyn; 2 sisters, Ginni William Cook of Portland, OR and Rev. Mona Joslyn of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Tom will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Climax United Methodist Church, 133 E. Maple Street, with Pastor David G. Knapp officiating. Interment will follow in Beckley Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Wednesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple Street. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to assist with his children?s education.
