Thomas Coffey

August 27, 1960 — January 21, 2025

Plainwell

Thomas “Tommy” Coffey, 64 of Plainwell, passed away peacefully at Plainwell Pines on January 21, 2025. He was born in Kalamazoo on August 27, 1960, to Bill and Sharon (Martin) Coffey.

Tommy grew up in and attended Comstock schools. In the summer he and his brother John enjoyed visiting their dad Bill in Alabama. Tommy and John were close and enjoyed Alabama Roll Tide Football and trips to Lyon Lake with their uncles Stacey and Stuart.

Tommy loved music, especially country music. He enjoyed going to concerts and was thrilled to see Travis Tritt live.

Above all, he loved to make friends and socialize with anyone that passed by. He would smile and ask how you were doing even if he didn’t know you. Over the years he lived in group homes and made many friends with the staff and residents he lived with. He also made many furry friends and had a special love for dogs.

He loved his family deeply and was always close with his parents. Phone calls to family were important to him and he always made sure to let them know he was thinking of them and looking forward to their next visit

Left to cherish his memory is his aunt Sandy whom he fondly called “La,” uncle Stacey and aunt Debbie Martin, and several cousins. Waiting for him at the finish line of this journey are his mom and step dad Sharon and Jim Thompson, dad and step mom Bill and Rosie Coffey, brother John, and uncles Stuart and Russell.

A funeral service for Tommy will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Home 622 S. Burdick St. Kalamazoo, MI 49007 on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
