VAN OOSTEN, Theodore C. "Ted"
Of Kalamazoo Went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday morning, October 18, 2010. Ted was born August 15, 1925 in Kalamazoo the son of Henry and Effie VanderVeen VanOosten. He was a veteran serving during World War II. Ted was the owner and operator of Woodwork Specialties which he started in 1957.He was a charter member of the Covenant United Reformed Church. On June 26, 1946 he was united in marriage to Louwina "Wink" who preceded him in death on February 17, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Bogard on March 15, 2004; and brothers-in-law, Robert Kline and Merwin Kruzinga. Surviving are 3 children, Jeanne Steve Glerum, Dave Sandi VanOosten, Scott Beth VanOosten,; son-in-law, Duane Garilyn Bogard all of Kalamazoo; 14 grandchildren, Jeremy Melissa Bogard, Jodi Casey Anker, Betsy Jason Stob, Jason Laura Glerum, Rebecca Donald Simmons, Alexandra Mark VanderPol, Olivia, Shelby, Ethan VanOosten, Madison, Parker, Cole, Brook, and Zoe VanOosten; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Francis Kruzinga, Joann Kline; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held at 11:00 o'clock Thursday at the Covenant United Reformed Church, 3724 Lovers Lane, with Rev. Arthur Besteman officiating. Interment for family and friends will be in Alamo Cemetery at 1:30. Friends may meet the family Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bethany Christian Services or the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission. www.langelands.com
