VICK, Thelma Fay
Of Galesburg, MI Went to be with her Lord Tuesday morning, December 15, 2009. Thelma was born May 28, 1928 in Steelville, MO the daughter of Albert and Lena Brown Farrar. Prior to her retirement in 1993 she was employed for 20 years as a secretary for Borgess Hospital. Thelma was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, where she was known as the "mother" of the church. She enjoyed gardening, quilting with her sisters, and watching her hummingbirds. Thelma especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called her "MamMaw." On February 27, 1954 she was united in marriage to her loving husband of 55 years, John W. Vick who survives. Also surviving is her daughter, Linda Michael Grogg; 2 grandchildren, Alicia Jacob Blake, Aaron Chelsea Grogg; 3 great-grandchildren, Noah, Isabella, and Aalyn; 2 sisters, Mary Wiedeman, her twin sister, Zelma Brimer; and many nieces and nephews. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Lonnie Vick in 1994; and brothers and sisters, Claude, Troy, Bert, Carol Henry, Jim, Raymond, Harry, Clark, Phoebe, Myrtle, and Mabel. Services will be held 10:30 Friday at the First Free Will Baptist Church, 630 Moline, with her husband Rev. John W. Vick officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Thursday from 4-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick and one hour prior to the services at church. Memorials may be directed to the First Free Will Baptist Church or Hospice Care and Services of Southwest Michigan.
