Kalamazoo, Michigan Thelma died Tuesday, August 19, 2008, in Kalamazoo, MI. She was born May 2, 1920, in Morristown, NJ, a daughter of Andrew and Ethel Loudos Kostopoulos. Thelma was a former member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Flint, MI, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was a member of the Philoptochos Society. On June 28, 1946, she was united in marriage with James T. Petropoulos, who preceded her in death on December 25, 1971. Thelma then moved back to New Jersey and following her retirement in 1985, she moved to Kalamazoo. Thelma was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John Kostopoulos, and a sister, Mary Karchonas. Surviving are: two sons, Ted Joanne Petropoulos of Portage and Andrew C. Petropoulos of Chatham, NJ; and three grandchildren, Andrew J., Michael J. and Alissa M. Petropoulos. Funeral services will be held 11:00 Saturday morning at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 507 S. Westnedge Ave., with Father Angelo Maggos, officiating. Interment in Genesee Prairie Cemetery will follow services. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, where the Trisagion Service will begin at 7pm.
