Of Texas Corners Sylvia passed away Saturday afternoon, June 25, 2011 at Alamo Nursing Home in Kalamazoo. She was born October 16, 1920 in Barnes, MI, the youngest of six children to Michael and Myrtie Ruggles Welsh. Sylvia lived a long life in the country in Texas Corners. She loved to garden, can fruit and vegetables and work in her flower garden. Preceding her in death were her husband, Donald F. Stuart in 1974; her parents; three brothers, Art, Cecil and Harley Welsh; and two sisters, Ruby Wood and Lettie Herrick. Surviving are her three daughters, Donna Stuart, Beverly Victor Farrow and JoAnn Dennis Sherman; seven grandchildren, Mary Chris St. Clair, Kimberly Farrow, Kevin Nicole Farrow, Beth Farrow, Timothy Jenny Sherman, Kurt Melissa Sherman and Sarah Nick Fein; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Joyce Andrews and Carol Leeson; nephew, Dan Welsh; and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Sylvia will be at 1:00 PM on Friday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, with Pastor Suzanne Kornowski officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Texas Corners. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
