HOWARD, Sylvia B. Kalamazoo Passed away Wednesday morning, March 14, 2007 at her home. She was born July 10, 1909 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late George and Marcia Nutting Weston. Mrs. Howard was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School, and Parsons Business College. She was employed by Gibson, Inc. for 29 years, and retired as executive secretary in 1973. She was a long time active member of Simpson United Methodist Church, and present member of Westwood United Methodist Church, a charter member of Daughters of the Nile Shriners Ladies and also a charter member of the Kalamazoo Nature Center. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and the outdoors, and bowled for many years on teams in Kalamazoo leagues. She and her husband traveled extensively in the United States and many foreign countries, and devoted a great deal of time in volunteer work. On June 29, 1933, she was united in marriage to Donald C. Howard, who survives. Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Donald G. and Nancy Howard of Bradenton, Florida; three grandchildren, Donald George Jr., Debra Sue Crowe, and Dawn Michelle; four great-grandchildren, Donald D., Drew, Hannah, and Katie; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her older brother, Edwin; and three older sisters, Marian, Ruby, and Dorothy. Funeral services for Mrs. Howard will be at 11:00 AM Monday at the Westwood United Methodist Church, 538 Nichols Road, with Rev. Eric Beck officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4-6 PM on Sunday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Shriners Crippled Children?s Hospital, or Westwood United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
