Sylvia May (Dey) Flamm

Died Friday morning September 13, 2019. Sylvia was born May 11, 1927 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a daughter of Jess and Grace (VanderVeen) Dey. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with Borgess Hospital for over 20 years, retiring in 1993. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Ivan Dey. She is survived by 2 children, Cynthia Rop of Kalamazoo and Douglas (Christine) Flamm of Mattawan; 2 grandchildren, Michelle (Manfred) Bengsch and Sarah Flamm; a great-granddaughter, Ashley (Jack) McCloskey; and a nephew, Michael (Mary) Dey. Sylvia's affection and caring for her family was a blessing to them all. She showed love and compassion through humor and laughter. She had many extended family members who she loved and that called her Grandma Flamm. She will be greatly missed by all. A private service was held on Saturday.
